Weaning workshop FAQs

When should I start weaning my baby?

Most babies are ready for solid foods at around six months. The workshop explains the signs of readiness and how to begin safely alongside milk feeds.

Do I have to do baby-led weaning?

No. Baby-led weaning, spoon-feeding or a combination can all be suitable. We look at the options so you can choose an approach that works for your baby and family.

Is spoon-feeding okay?

Yes. Responsive spoon-feeding can be part of a positive approach to starting solids, either on its own or alongside finger foods.

What is the difference between gagging and choking?

Gagging is a normal protective reflex as babies learn to manage food. Choking happens when the airway is blocked. The session explains the key differences and practical food-safety steps.

When should allergens be introduced?

Common allergens can usually be introduced from around six months, one at a time and in suitable forms. Individual medical advice may be needed for some babies.

Can I attend before my baby is six months old?

Yes. Many parents attend shortly before they plan to start solids so they have time to feel prepared.

Can I bring my baby to the workshop?

Workshops are designed with parents and babies in mind. Please check the details for the next session when you enquire.

Where are the workshops held?

Current sessions are commonly held in Knaresborough and welcome families from Harrogate and surrounding areas of North Yorkshire.

Do you offer private weaning workshops?

Private small-group and educational sessions may be available by arrangement. Get in touch to discuss what would suit your group.
